Judge Ostberg graduated from Drew University, attended Delaware Law School of Widener University, and was a third year visiting student at Seton Hall Law School.
She is admitted to the State Bar in New York, New Jersey and Texas serving clients in both Federal and State Court, including the United States District Courts of New York, New Jersey and the Southern District of Texas. Judge Ostberg is also admitted in the District of Columbia and is one of the 5% of Lawyers in the United States that is licensed to appear before the United States Supreme Court.
Since 1986, Judge Ostberg’s legal career has focused on the general practice of law in the tri-state area. Her extensive experience includes:
- Corporate and business Law having also served as an instructor for the U.S. Labor Dept.
- Counsel to numerous family-owned businesses including local businesses, Farmers, Heavy Duty Truck and Equipment Repair Facilities, Over The Road and Over the Rail Transportation Companies, AI start-ups and Technology Inventors as well as Accounting and Legal Firms.
- Serving families and children as a Certified Attorney Ad Litem and Guardian Ad Litem for children and wards on the Texas Border and as an Attorney of the United States Department of State, Washington, DC – Hague Convention-International Abductions.
- Past Assistant City Attorney, Municipal and Juvenile Prosecutor
- Attorney for the Texas 13th Court of Appeals
Judge Ostberg presently serves as one of the Town Justices in Minisink, Orange County, hearing criminal cases, civil and small claims cases, landlord/tenant disputes, traffic tickets, and violations of Town Codes and Ordinances. She also serves as a CAP Judge at the Orange County Correctional Facility Jail.
Throughout her career, Judge Ostberg has been recognized nationally for her contributions to the legal profession. A New York State Bar Association Approved Course Instructor, District VIII Ethics Past Committee Member and Officer, appointed by the N.J. Supreme Court, and the District VII Fee Arbitration Past Secretary for Mercer County, Judge Ostberg has been named General Practitioner of the Year and Young Lawyer of the Year by the NJSBA and was selected by the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism for outstanding standards in the Practice of Law. Judge Ostberg has co-authored the Civil Trial Preparation, ICLE Trial Manual and Handbook for New Jersey Attorneys and authored dozens of articles and programming including the drafting of the proposed Appellate Court Opinions and the proposed Opinion on Do-It-Yourself Kits which was adopted by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Aside from the law, Judge Ostberg has been an adjunct Professor at numerous Colleges and Universities, where she has taught Business Law, Family Law, Computer Law and Technology and developed numerous Paralegal Studies Programs. She received the Golden Key Award for Outstanding Professor, at Texas A & M University and Outstanding Public Schools Volunteer Service Award. She has also served two terms on the Board of Education and was a volunteer in Public Schools with 20 years’ service. Judge Ostberg is one of the Founding Members of the Warwick Valley Columbiettes and present member of Chapter 16365, Msgr. McDonagh, as well as a past CCD substitute teacher and Adaptive Education and Learning Substitute Teacher.
Working with the U.S. Embassy in Grenada, she volunteers as an advocate for adults with special needs and the island’s home for destitute and uncared for children. She was “boots on the ground” and on the island when Hurricane Beryl hit Grenada, while on a mission trip delivering needed supplies. The library for the elementary school on Petit Martinique among other prior programs were destroyed by the hurricane. She, along with other volunteers worked with the U.S. Embassy and members of the Grenadian Red Cross and government in the first days after the Hurricane passed. Her dedication to the Queen Elizabeth Home for Children and the Dorothy Hopkins Home is unwavering as she works with the officers of the Prime Ministry to provide needed supplies.
Judge Ostberg lives in Orange County and is the proud mother of two Eagle Scout sons. Judge Ostberg enjoys traveling and is an avid runner, having finished a marathon and numerous half marathons.
