From White Plains, For White Plains
I am a lifelong resident of White Plains. I was born in Lennox Hill Hospital the week my parents moved into the house I now reside in with my family in the Rosedale section of the City. I went to Rosedale Elementary School, Eastview Junior High and White Plains High School (Class of 1982). I am the past President of the White Plains Council of Neighborhood Associations and the Gedney Association.
For over 20 years I have been a Public Defender, on the misdemeanor, felony and appellate panels. I have served as chair of the Criminal Bar Section of the Westchester County Bar Association. Admitted in New York Connecticut and the District of Columbia, I have appeared in the smallest village courts up to the United States Supreme Court, the 2nd, 3rd, and 9th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, various U.S. District Courts, as well as appellate courts here in the State of New York.
My goal in running for White Plains Common Council is purely to provide a voice in opposition to the one-party agenda that has ruled our city for years now.
I am registered as a Democrat, but I do not subscribe to the progressive agenda of recent years, and find my principals more aligned with Libertarian, Conservative and Republican ideals.
Specific to White Plains, I believe that comprehensive planning is required along with the participation of our citizenry, and that delay has allowed a piece meal strategy by our city council that has benefitted developers rather than the public.
I would like to push to implement term limits and shine light on the municipal appointment process.
I would like to question our city’s declaration as a “sanctuary city” and demand an accounting of the expenses incurred. Don’t even get me started on the School District! Feel free to call if you want me to expand.
